Retail/Hospitality Projects:

Retail Strip Malls

Metro Health Village Retail - $700,000
A 10,000 square foot commercial retail center situated on the west edge of “Metro Health Village,” a 170-acre Leed certified development being built around the new Metropolitan Hospital. New retail center includes a Starbucks drive-thru as one of the end anchors.
Cascade Retail Strip Malls
Construction of two new retail strip malls on the corner of East Paris and Cascade Road. Each building includes four separate tenant spaces.
Century Center I V - $1.1 M
This is the fourth building constructed in the Century Center development near Rivertown Crossings Mall. This particular building, completed using a Design/Build approach, is a 14,000 square foot strip mall constructed of conventional steel with a masonry exterior and multiple leasable areas.
Clocktower Centre - $750,000
Construction of an 11,700 square foot strip mall in Kentwood using conventional steel. The structure included a 7,700 square foot restaurant space and 4,000 additional square feet divided into three separate leasable areas. The project was completed using a Design/Build approach.
Century Center II - $1.75 M
Construction of a new 22,000 square foot building for lease as a retail development. The strip mall is being constructed using conventional steel. Wolverine has also completed several build-outs within the strip mall, including New Balance and Magic Wok.
K-Mart Building Renovation- $1.0 M
Redevelopment of a 120,000 square foot, former K-Mart building as well as the construction of a 10,000 square foot addition. The building was then subdivided into smaller lease areas for a variety of tenants including Aldi's Grocery Store, Big Lots and Burlington Coat Factory.
Greenville West Shopping Center- $200,000
The storefront of the 100,000 square foot center was completely remodeled, giving Greenville West Shopping Center an updated appearance. The new facade now includes multiple heights, various colors and brick columns. The Fryling team also redesigned the site and completed two build-outs within the center.
Marketplace Shoppes Retail Center - $4.3 M
Phased construction of a new retail strip mall, divided into four sections and constructed using a Design/Build approach. The project is made with brick, block and steel and consists of more than 55,000 square feet.

Retail Stores

Ethan Allen Furniture - $1.28 M
The original facade on this building was removed and renovated with large windows for a more dramatic appearance. There was also an addition constructed to expand the building by 15,000 square feet and the interior was completely renovated for Ethan Allen Furniture.
A.K. Rikks Menswear - $375,000
An existing retail space was completely remodeled for A.K. Rikks Menswear in Grand Rapids. The project included removing a wall to expand the store into the vacant space adjacent to the suite. The entire store consists of nearly 2,000 square feet and was renovated with high end finishes for a classy look.
Walgreen’s - $1.0 M
Construction of a new retail store consisting of more than 14,000 square feet. The building has masonry walls and a drive-thru pharmacy. This project was the first building constructed in Century Center Plaza, a retail complex for Daane's Development near Rivertown Crossings Mall.
Wal-Mart SuperCenter - $10.1 M
Construction of a new, 186,000 square foot super Wal-Mart in St. John's, MI. The structure was completed using conventional steel, metal roof panels, and color concrete block walls. It was completed 22 days ahead of the contractually scheduled completion date
Martha's Vineyard - $700,000
At the edge of the historic district of Heritage Hill on Union Avenue is Martha's Vineyard. The owner bought a late 1800's building adjacent to it and hired Wolverine Building Group to merge the two buildings and renovate the interior to create one. The project was completed using a design/build approach.
Shoe Carnival - $720,000
Construction of a new 12,000 square foot retail structure, built directly next to an existing Kohl's Department Store on Harvey Street in Norton Shores, MI. This retail location is part of a larger retail complex by the name of "Lakes Crossing."

Restaurants

Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar - St. Johns, MI
A new 4,420 square foot dine-in restaurant using the small eatery prototype.
Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar - Ionia, MI $850,000
Construction of a new, 3700 square foot Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar, located on Commerce Lane in Ionia. This is only the second Applebee’s restaurant in the U.S. that has been built using a new prototoype, which is being touted as the small town version of its popular prototypical eatery.
Grand Woods Lounge - $585,000
A former auto repair shop on the south edge of downtown Grand Rapids was completely renovated into a rustic-looking bar and restaurant that is fast becoming a popular destination. It features a private dining area, a stage available for live perfomances, and an outdoor patio with tiki bar.
Graydon's Crossing - $250,000
Graydon's Crossing, formerly the Scoreboard Saloon, was completely renovated in just under two months using a Design/Build method. The bar area on the first floor was updated and remodeled, while abandoned living space on the second floor was transformed to include restaurant-style seating and an outdoor deck.
Wendy’s Restaurant - $1.6 M
Two new 3,400 square foot restaurants were constructed, one in Wyoming and the other in Battle Creek. The restaurant in Battle Creek was constructed in only 55 days.
Olives Restaurant – $115,000
Design and construction of an existing restaurant that was built more than 80 years ago. Portions of the interior were demoilshed and renovated to transform the 2,400 square foot building into an upper-scale trendy restaurant with a tapas-style menu.
T. G. I. Friday’s - $0.72 M
All interior and exterior work was completed for the new restaurant as part of a larger renovation project in the building at 50 Monroe in downtown Grand Rapids. The project included the construction of kitchen facilities, restrooms, a waiting area, bar area, two main dining areas and a banquet room.

Hotels

AmericInn Charlevoix - $2.6 M
Construction of a 2-story hotel located just minutes from Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix. It has 53 total units varying from standard rooms and suites to larger suites with spas and a fireplace. The building also includes a large lobby with fireplace, a pool, spa and sauna.
Holiday Inn Express- $4.3 M
Construction of a 4-story hospitality facility with 79 units and 56,000 square feet. The rooms range from individual suites and spa rooms to a 2-story room with spiral staircase. A highlight of the project is the attached, indoor waterpark with a kiddie pool, spa area, and 2-story waterslide.
AmericInn Saugatuck - $1.8 M
Construction of a 46-unit, 26,000 square foot hotel with an indoor pool, individual suites with jacuzzis or fireplaces and a lobby with a prominent stone fireplace. There is also a drive-thru canopy entrance.
Hampton Inn - $4.8 M
Construction of the original hotel consisting of 85 units and indoor pool facilities. Also, the construction of a 52-unit addition including a new game room, renovations to the pool and general decor updating.
Extended Stay America – $1.8 M
Construction of a 3-story hotel. The project included a lobby area, administrative offices and 104 units for overnight accommodations.

Auto Retail/ Dealership

Cascade Shell and Convenience Store - $1.1 M
Construction of a new Shell gas station near the corner of East Paris and Cascade Road in Grand Rapids. The 6,000 square foot project included fueling services, a convenience store, a single tunnel carwash, and a Quizno's sub shop franchise.
Delta Imports Dealership - $2.2 M
Using conventional steel, Wolverine Building constructed a 22,200 square foot addition to an existing pre-engineered building. The dealership consists of individual offices, showroom space, lounge areas and a large service area in the rear of the building.
Spring Lake Convenience Store - $140,000
Construction of a BP Gas Station and Convenience Store that was added to the site of a stand alone carwash. Using a Design/Build approach, a 1,000 square foot convenience store was built adjacent to the existing car wash and the entire site reworked to accommodate a canopy and gas pumping equipment.
Waterworks Carwash - $1.0 M
This project consisted of a 9,000 square foot pre-engineered steel and block building with a precast roof deck. The building included a general tunnel wash bay, several detail wash bays for additional services as well as a coffee bar and retail area.
Kool Toyota - $2.2 M
Design and construction of a new 30,000 square foot building with a 58' X 116' canopy, a mezzanine and a basement for the purpose of a car dealership showroom.
