Historic Renovation Projects:

Karl Building
Historic renovation of the Karl Building, located at 98 Monroe Center. The project included a complete restoration of the 147 year old building’s storefront with all new framing; intricate trim work including a cornice detail with concealed lighting that will illuminate the new tenants signage, custom white oak entrance doors, new glass, and tile.
Michigan State University Marshall Adams Hall- $5.2 M
Complete historic restoration of Marshall Adams Hall, restoring it back to its original 1903 condition. The project included new mechanical and electrical systems, 1000 feet of new chiller line, an elevator, and a data communication bank. The masonry exterior was also restored.
Spring Lake Village Hall and Police Department - $1.9 M
A complete interior renovation of this historic building constructed in the late 1930's. The project included the demolition and reconstruction of nearly 12,000 square feet, including a new floor plan, ADA requirements, technology upgrades and updating of the mechanical and electrical systems.
The Nisbett and Fairman Buildings - $4.9 M
72,000 square feet of historical renovations to convert two 120-year-old buildings into senior housing. The lower level of the Nisbett building will also consist of commercial space. There are 47 housing units total. This project was recently awarded a 2004 Best of Seniors Housing Design Award by The Seniors Housing Council of the National Association of Home Builders.
Genesis Bridge Street – $2.2 M
Historic renovation of the upper floors into 27 efficiency and one bedroom units for handicap residents. The renovations included the reuse of certain building features such as an existing skylight and historic trim details.
The Lofts - $3.4 M
Fryling completed the rehabilitation of an existing 6-story building. The project included retail space on the first floor, 50 apartment units on the upper floors and an inside parking lot with a car elevator.
Herkimer Hotel - $4.2 M
Renovation of an existing old hotel (1890-1910) in downtown Grand Rapids. The project consisting of rehabilitating 122 housing units plus 18 one-bedroom apartments.
Gibson’s Restaurant - $700,000
Restoration and remodel of a historic mansion for the purpose of a restaurant, offices and galleries.
