Wolverine Building, Inc. is pleased to announce the completion of the cooler/freezer expansion for SYSCO Food Services located on 3700 SYSCO Court in Grand Rapids.
Due to an increase in demand for
its service, SYSCO Grand Rapids, a leading provider of systems
and services to the food service industry, required an additional
67,400 square foot freezer and cooler expansion.
Wolverine expanded
the existing 207,000 square foot building using a conventional
steel structure, insulated metal panels, an ethylene-glycol sub-surface
heat system in the freezer and extra thickness of insulation
in the roof of the entire addition. The parking lot was also expanded.
According to Jim Ziegler, Project
Manager for Wolverine, “the goal in this project was to increase
the capacity of the existing freezer and cooler as well as up-dating
the refrigeration equipment. But more importantly was the re-orientation
of the racking system in both the freezer and cooler to allow for
quicker and more efficient selection of products in filling specific
orders for various deliveries. We also enlarged the cold dock shipping
and receiving area and added 16 new docks. This created a much
larger staging area for more incoming product that needs to be
broken down as well as staging for a lot more out-going orders
for delivery. It just makes the whole operation much more efficient.”
