The new, four-story Saint Mary’s Hauenstein Center facility will encompass 140,000 square feet and is located on the site of the old Xavier Hall building at 240 Cherry SE on the Saint Mary’s downtown campus.
The Hauenstein Neuroscience Center
will combine state-of-the-art critical and acute care for those with
neurologically related diseases. It will also feature a new emergency/trauma
center with 45 private patient rooms on the main floor.
In addition, the project will include
the construction of a parking deck adjacent to the center with enough
space for 425 vehicles.
The building was
designed to maximize efficiency and convenience for the users,
while minimizing the impact
on the environment. There were also many
sustainable techniques considered and decided on for the project
as Saint Mary’s plans to seek LEED certification for the building.
