The Helen DeVos
Children’s Hospital is currently in the construction
phase, which began fall of 2006 and is scheduled for
completion in 2010.
The Children’s Hospital will be a state-of-the-art healthcare facility with 13-stories
dedicated to pediatric care. It will include neo-natal and pediatric intensive
care units, patient rooms, emergency room, radiology department, and surgery/procedure
rooms.
The building was designed to maximize efficiency
and convenience for the users, while minimizing the impact
on the environment. There were also many sustainable
techniques considered and decided on for the project as Spectrum Health plans
to seek LEED Silver certification for the building.
